Purpose (Tujuan): Untuk
menyatakan suatu kegiatan yang akan dilakukan. Biasanya simple future tense
menggunakan keterangan waktu seperti: tomorrow, next week, next month, next
year, later, etc.
There are two ways to
write a sentence in simple future tense:
1. Using
‘Will’
1. a) Nominal Sentence
SUBJECT
+ WILL + BE + NOUN/ADJECTIVE/ADVERB
Examples:
a.
I will be there tomorrow
b.
I will be a doctor later
(+) I will be there tomorrow
(-) I will not be there tomorrow
(+) Will you be there tomorrow?
Yes, I will No, I will not/ No,
I won’t
2. b) Verbal Sentence
SUBJECT
+ WILL + VERB I + COMPLEMENT
Examples:
(+) I will visit my grandmother’s house
next week
(-) I will not visit my grandmother’s house
next week
(?) Will you visit your grandmother’s house
next week?
Yes, I will No,
I will not/No, I won’t
2. Using
‘be+going to+ ’

+ be + going to + be + Noun/ Adjective/ Adverb
Examples:
(+)
I am going to be in my dad’s office later
(-)
I am not going to be in my dad’s office later
(?)
Are you going to be in your dad’s office later?

I am No, I am not
Now, please translate these sentences into
English? Number 1 has been done for you.

tomorrow
2. 2)
Aku tidak akan di rumah besok
3. 3)
Mereka tidak akan menjadi pengangguran nanti
4.
4) Akankah mereka di sini nanti?
5. 5)
Akankah kamu menjadi penari?
2. 2) Verbal Sentence
Subject
+ be + going to + Verb + Complement
Examples:
(+) He is going to see a doctor tonight
(-) He is not going to see a doctor tonight
(?) Is he going to see a doctor tonight?
Yes, he is No,
he is not/ No, he isn’t
(+) Tara and Ayu are going to perform on the stage tomorrow
(-) Tara and Ayu are not going to perform on the stage
tomorrow
(?) Are Tara and Ayu going to perform on the stage tomorrow?
Yes, they are No,
they are not/ No, they aren’t
Penggunaan ‘will’ dan ‘be+going+to’ sebenarnya memiliki arti
yang sama yaitu ‘akan’, yang membedakan adalah maksud dari kedua kata
tersebut. ‘Will’ digunakan jika si penulis atau pembicara yakin bahwa ia benar-benar
akan melakukan hal tersebut, sedangkan ‘be going to’ memiliki arti sebaliknya,
yaitu penulis atau pembicara belum terlalu yakin dengan apa yang dikatakan atau
ditulis; dalam kata lain masih rencana.
